The Service Manager maintains an efficient and profitable Service department through qualified staffing, customer retention and addition, cost controls, and the achievement of goals or objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and maintain all State and Federal inspection program(s), order inspection supplies, and keep records updated in accordance with state and federal laws!
  • Effectively comply with all company safety standards.
  • Procure needed parts for Service Jobs as required.
  • Oversee all Service employees (including training, performance evaluations, rewarding, discipline, and applying company policies)
  • Interviewing, hiring, motivating, planning, assigning, and directing work as needed.
  • Write Service repair estimates as needed (provide job hours, materials needed, as well as sublet repairs)
  • Negotiate insurance repairs with insurance companies & adjusters on customers behalf if required.
  • Review completed service orders for accuracy, profitability, & information
  • Schedule internal and external service Jobs as required.
  • Assist Service Technicians with troubleshooting, repair plans, and provide technical support when needed.
  • Perform Quality Control inspections to ensure proper repairs are performed.
  • Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them.
  • Prepares and administers an annual operating budget for the service department at the discretion of management.
  • Analyze and provide leadership in the area of market potential to ensure customer retention and to expand customer base for all Service capabilities.
  • Maintains 24-hour follow-up with customers; internal and external, to confirm satisfaction with the service experience or to address complaints.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills with all levels of customers as well as interdepartmental personnel
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with preferred knowledge in livestock and grain trailer repair, and truck body mounting and repair.
  • Able to react to an ever-changing environment and maintain a professional attitude.
  • Able to effectively use required computer operating systems.
