Job Description

Position summary: Responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to join fabricated metal pieces to specifications or other forms of instruction.
Essential Functions:
• Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job. Plans details of working procedure and tools and material requirements.
• Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded. Sets up, assembles, and tacks weld parts.
• Fabricates equipment by cutting, burning, and welding various metals. Repairs equipment by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
Other Responsibilities:
• Perform product repair on items set aside
• Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Essential Skills
• Proficient in assigned welding techniques
• Working knowledge of weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
• Interpretation of mechanical drawings
• Welding equipment maintenance Safety and Hazards
• Work involves varying degrees of precision and control where damage could be considerable.
• Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when performing maintenance work.
• Work involves considerable stooping and bending Considerable glare emits from work, requiring the wearing of personal protective equipment. Exposed to moderate burns and exposed to flying objects, such as chips and scale.
• Accident hazard can involve severe cuts and bruises. Job site must be carefully enclosed to prevent injury to others from sparks and flying chips.
Experience and Education: High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate); Completion of formal welding program, with Two to three years of manufacturing welding experience.
