Job Description

Under the general direction of the Controller, the Accounting Assistant I will perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of general accounting. This position reports to the Controller.

Working Conditions:

Duties are performed in an office setting. Working effectively and collaboratively in a team environment is a must.

This is a non-exempt, full-time, regular position. Overtime may be required.

Salary Range: $16 - $17/hr.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or certificate of completion from an accredited career college in business and/or accounting or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and the ability to use computerized database programs.
  • Must possess a working vehicle, hold a valid driver’s license, have an acceptable driving record, and produce proof of insurance.
  • Must be willing to consent to a drug test.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Office certification.
  • Hands on experience with an integrated database, preferably Jenzabar.
  • One year experience of bookkeeping or accounting responsibilities; appropriate training may substitute.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare all month end reconciliations and journal entries for the foundation.
  • Monthly reconciliation of credit card statements.
  • On a daily basis, count cash drawers and prepare bank deposit
  • Maintain computerized accounting records in an organized report filing system.
  • Advise Controller of procedural errors and take corrective action.
  • Communicate effectively and interface with staff, instructors, vendors, and students in a professional, approachable manner.
  • Exemplify excellent customer relations with vendors, employees, and students.
  • Use strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Perform basic office tasks, including but not limited to mailing, faxing, working with multi-line phone system, photocopying, and filing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
